Editorial Standards — How Logbook.co.uk Is Written
How Logbook.co.uk is researched, written, reviewed and corrected — sourcing rules, independence, and how to report an error.
Logbook.co.uk publishes plain-English guidance on UK record-keeping law. People make compliance decisions based on what we write, so this page sets out how the site is researched, written and corrected.
Sourcing
- Every guide is grounded in primary sources: legislation (legislation.gov.uk), official guidance (gov.uk, HSE, FSA, DVSA, ICO, MCA, CAA) and recognised standards (British Standards where relevant).
- Each article carries a Sources block linking the authorities it relies on. If we can’t source a claim, we don’t publish it.
- Where a figure is uncertain or a rule is in transition (for example the 2026 property logbook reforms), we say so explicitly rather than presenting intent as law.
Review and updates
- Articles show their published and last-updated dates.
- Guides tied to changing rules are reviewed when the underlying regulation or official guidance changes, and time-sensitive pieces (reform trackers, deadline guides) are maintained as living documents.
Independence
- Logbook.co.uk is independently operated. We are not a software vendor, and no provider, manufacturer or trade body pays for coverage or placement in our guides.
- If any commercial relationship ever affects a page, it will be disclosed on that page.
What this site is not
Our guides are general information, not legal advice. For decisions with legal consequences — enforcement action, prosecution risk, contractual disputes — consult a solicitor or the relevant regulator directly.
Corrections
If you spot an error, tell us via the contact details on our About page and we’ll review it promptly. Material corrections are noted on the affected article.
