Habitation service, base vehicle service and damp readings in one record: the history that holds a caravan's resale value.
Two things sink a caravan or motorhome sale: a gap in the habitation service history, and damp. This record tracks both, and it keeps the habitation service separate from the base vehicle service, which is the distinction most owners get wrong. A motorhome that has been serviced at a car garage has had its engine looked after and its habitation systems ignored.

What's in the template
- Habitation service: date, service centre, gas and appliances, electrical and RCD, water system, damp readings and invoice reference
- Base vehicle service: date, mileage, work carried out, garage or dealer, invoice reference and whether the book was stamped
How to use it
Record the actual damp readings rather than a pass or fail. A trend matters more than a single figure: a reading that has climbed from 8% to 16% over three years tells you something is developing, while an isolated 16% tells you almost nothing. As a rough guide, under 15% is normally treated as dry, 15% to 20% as one to monitor, and above 20% as needing action, though service centres vary in exactly where they draw those lines.

Who must keep this record
The owner. Neither a habitation service nor a base vehicle service is required by law for private use, so this is not a compliance record. It is a value record. Most manufacturer warranties require an annual habitation service carried out on schedule by an approved centre, and a missed service can invalidate warranty cover on water ingress, which is the expensive failure.
Insurers may also ask, particularly after a water damage or gas-related claim. And at resale, a complete habitation history with damp readings trending flat is the difference between a quick sale and a long negotiation about what might be behind the panels.
How long to keep it
Keep it for the whole time you own the vehicle and hand the complete file to the buyer with it. Keep the invoices behind the sheet: a service record without the supporting invoices is worth noticeably less to a cautious buyer, and damp readings in particular are only persuasive when they come from a dated invoice from a named service centre.
