How the maths works

Current MOT expires 15 September. Test any time from 16 August onwards and your new expiry is 15 September next year — a certificate that effectively lasts up to 13 months. Test on 10 August and the new expiry becomes 9 August next year: you’ve permanently shifted your date earlier.
